Not for the first time, failing to earn a point at home has proved to be united’s downfall.

  5. the headmaster says:

Such a ‘nearly’ side. Hopefully this will continue until they ‘nearly’ succeed in regaining premiership status.

  6. Burnhammer says:

A defeat to their nearest rivals and an FA investigation into the Spring affair. What a wonderful week.

  8. Swearry Thierry says:

‘United’ and ‘downfall’ has a rather nice ring to it.
    ‘Freefall’ sounds even better.
    Here’s hoping…

Congratulations to Sheffield’s top club. A timely reminder that the city’s proper footballing representatives have class and tradition, not expensive lawyers. Keep up the good work, lads. Your bid for promotion is long overdue.

Mentioning Sheffield United and recent headlines obviously rekindles memory of the Tevez affair and the apparent benefit that the “big” clubs seem to enjoy. Henry Winter of the Daily Telegraph was apparently so incensed at the technical offence involving Tevez that he gave evidence that the aforementioned was worth at least three goals and seems to claim that his contribution was a major factor in the award against WHU. I just wonder what he will say if asked to give evidence should the Arshavin affair is ever challenged. Or will Arsenal escape scot free over an alleged late deal that has raised more than a few eyebrows? I seem to recall that originally it was said that Mascherano could not play for Liverpool because FIFA rules apparently prevented him from playing for three clubs in one season. In the end it went very quiet and nothing happened. Now why do I suspect that the Arshavin affair will go the same way?

On a day when L’Pool sneak a win against Pompey and English Cricket plummets to all time low surely Wednesday’s win over clueless Blades is the ray of sunshine on the horizon.
