Parish Notice

Last night I had to ban someone from posting on the blog by blocking their IP address. It’s very rare I have to do this, but I am determined to keep this blog a place for polite, rational discussion about matters relating to West Ham. I won’t tolerate swearing, racist language or homophobia.

I operate a fairly unintrusive moderating policy. Once your first comment has been moderated you can then post freely. But if you abuse this privilege, you will suffer the consequences. My blog, my rules.

There is no place for these idiots who insult Mark Noble and Boa Morte (how ever bad he is)

  3. HammersWest says:

    Thanks Iain,
I left last night because of that “gentleman” glad he,s gone

  4. Hmmm… glad I missed all that. Well done, Iain, and thanks for keeping it that way.

  5. Scalyback says:

Well done Iain, this blog is a cut ortwo above most blogs and that will help keep it that way.

Well said Stephen, I totally agree

  6. budgie says:

Totally agree with both Stephen and Scalyback.
    Well done Iain

The world of internet forums is a strange place and seems to be irresistable to people (I suspect children and young men) who need to act like bigots and thugs. Among my many interests Beyond WHU is music, and I sometimes track down obscure classical performances of minimalist piano pieces on YouTube only to find the comments full of the same brutal hatefulness. How can a composer cause such offence!? The only rudeness free forum I know of is an obscure corner of the internet devoted to the study of moths (another passion).

It’s really important that forum vandals are banned as they seem to systematically destroy the value of these sites as a venue for fans and enthusiasts to meet and discuss their passions. Where else can a 45 year old exile from Ilford (now living in remotest Lancashire) go to be keep in touch with the team he grew up with.

This is a great site Iain. Keep up the good work and ban whoever doesn’t use the forum in the spirit in which it was offered.

    well done that man………coyi

Absolutely, Dark Specatacle. Sums it up perfectly.

Phew! It wasn’t me then! All I remember about last night was having a protracted conversation on Twitter, trying to explain that Geneva was not in San Francisco! Went on beyond 6AM. ridiculously!

Increasingly impressed by the quality of this site’s readers; long may it stay that way. Bravo!

  12. Trappisto says:

Yep, one of the reasons I’ve come of out being a lurker on here is that everyone is respectful of each other and generally reasonable, and it’s good to see that poor behaviour won’t be tolerated!

  13. E1 says:

Well done Iain. I would also like to apologise for my part to all but the guy was just not a nice person. Thanks again and here’s to decent conversation long may it continue.

  14. DevoDevo says:

Missed the action, but there is no place for these idiots, particularly on a forum worth reading.

  15. Goatygav says:

Bravo Iain. Didn’t see what went on but well done for not tolerating that kind of language and intent.

  16. SwedeHammer says:

Thank you Ian. Being one of the last in the time zone (LA). It is a cup of coffee in the morning and your blog to catch up. The last thing you need is that in your face to start of the day. Love your blog, keep up your great job.

Just read that Ashton just had another surgery. I can’t wait to have him back. We truly need a force upfront. We have great material up to the offensive line…

One of the reasons I visit this site regularly is because of the posts that Iain makes which are always thought provoking and always gets debate about football going – the player ratings are great because I really enjoy the banter about our different opinions and all that.

Other forums and message boards seem to always end up with filth and aggressive or intimidating language and bullying. I realise that it is crutial to have a forum that is moderated but that we all stick to the topic and respect others opinions, even if they differ from our.

This is the best site I have visited where you can read a range of opinons on a variety of topics and post without fear of what others may say about your post.

Well done Iain for the site, the content and your fair moderation. We all appreciate it.

So blasphemy about any faith is still permitted! ;>

  19. the headmaster says:

Sorry I missed the fun! Must have been bad tho, Iain’s not exactly renowned for kicking prople off the blog. You normally have to be a right pillock in order to invoke the Dale censorship!

Well said darkspectacle, an excellent post.

From a 48 year old exile from East Ham and Brentwood (now living in remotest Thailand)!
