Wednesday Rumourmill

This one is not a rumour, but a reality. Ben Thatcher has signed for Ipswich. May Allah be praised.

* Joe Cole rumoured to be keen on coming back to us on a season long loan. I’ll believe that when I see it!
* Trinidad international, 21 year old Keon Daniel is to be offered a trial at Upton Park.
*Anton Ferdinand has reportedly turned down a new £2 million contract, trebling his salary. Expect Newcastle to be on the sniff.

I can’t see us selling Anton at the moment, seeing as virtually all our other centre backs are injured. I’d love Joe Cole to come back though. Wonder if Chelsea would be interested in a swap with Boa Morte…

Scolari is known to find quality where noone else does, And I’ve heard that he’s fond of Quashie!

  2. Neal Gilbert says:

Well I never another joke about Boa-Morte.

Try and think up something original for this season if possible.

Why not try and start the season in a positive fashion it might catch on.!!!

  3. Roy says:

    …or Quashie?

  4. jon.london colney says:

joe cole, simply the best thing that could ever happen would for him to come back home.ben thatcher, thank the tractor boys for doing us a favour,we owe them one for that.as for ferdy out,i realy do hope not.as for cover for linda,im sure lbm would jump at the chance?

  5. sam ham says:

Having Joe back would be great just the sort of player we are short of .Doubt if it will happen though. A few injuries and I think we could be in for a very tough season. We really need to bring in a couple of proven players who are not past it. A striker ,a creative midfield player and some cover for Linda at the left back position. Plus I think some of our young players should be given more of a chance. Plus we should definately get rid of LBM or make sure he gets no first team action at least!!!!
We have to look at what other teams in the prem are doing otherwise we will be left behind.

I agree with Neal… lets get behind Boa Morte… it is possible, however unlikely, that the guy could rediscover the form that saw him valued as a £10m player…. I know a lot of his performances last year were pretty pathetic, but how he got more abuse than Lee Bowyer, barely a Championship-quality player these days, is beyond me…

Bowyer, to be fair, did chip in with 3 or 4 goals, which is 3 or 4 more than Boa Morte, but the guy has no legs, can’t run, fouls all the time, lacks strength and power, and for me, considering he’s a ‘west ham fan’ just doesn’t show the passion and heart i expect of West Ham players…. but i shall do as i preach, and even back him for the new season… IRONS!!!

  7. Ray Moore says:

    Boa-Morte is useless

  8. JMan says:

Sam you are the man, agree 100%, continuous investment is the only way to ensure we can compete and realise BG’s 5 year plan of which we are half way through.

  9. Richard says:

didnt anyone see how cole celebrated after scoring against us last season at stamford bridge? there’s no way he’s coming back and he certainly doesnt see us as ‘home’ . he has always been a chelsea fan anyway

  10. Neil Scott says:

Neal have a sense of humour! It will be business as usual at UP this year so expect a 10th-12th place finish.

  11. LaurieInSpain says:

Boa Morte is a joke. I’m not criticising his effort or attitude but the end result is not worthy of the shirt. Joe Cole will no way come back to the Boleyn as a Hammer. Not this side of 33 or a career threatening injury anyway. And if Anton wants away then we should let him go. Thatcher would have had people tearing up their season tickets… Id sooner see Bellamy asked to play at left back with one good leg and a torn groin. As for the Trinidadian triallist… talk about a step up in class!! If we released Freddie to free up wages then cant we do the same with some of the other dead wood hanging around.. Quashie is a great example of someone who could do a job for a Championship side looking for a decent squad player. I know its rubbish business but let him go for peanuts even if we have to pay a portion of his wages. One less depressing face for Curbs to see at the training ground.

Can’t say I feel inspired by this coming season: Behrami was a good signing, Anton to stay (we need him), C Cole to figure again (due to injuries), Joe Cole returning (a dream), Lucas Neill looking slow, lots of unsettling stories – when’s the sun going to come out?

  13. Plaistow54 says:

You know what i reckon Iain, Curbs is desperate for cover at left back & he was going to give Thatcher a start. I think he listened to the supporters. Wisely so, Thatcher isn’t good enough. Sounds like Givet doesn’t want to come & Appiah didn’t go too well in the medical. Here is a link for that young Daniel the midfielder.

Would have Joe Cole back in a heartbeat. Some talk of Tristan the Spaniard striker but he is 32 now & rubbish. Also Bruno, a right back in La Liga. O.k. but nothing special. I guess when you look at it, considering what is happening to Man. City & other clubs that have been bought by owners promising the earth in five minutes, things are not that bad. Some City players could be on the loose, Petrov ? Yes. i agree we need those three positions & i don’t see that we have to break the bank to do it.

  14. bloody Limey says:

Joe Cole was chosen from an early age as the new creative superstar of English football, of the ‘holy trinity’ of midfield talent produced by the Acadamy, Joe was always the potential World beater. The New Maradonna etc. But then he went to Chelski, under the regime of boring football, the ‘special one ‘ drilled out of him the ceativity that made him special, the reason other teams feared him.

Joe Coles career has stalled at Stamford Bridge, he’s played out of position, not allowed the role that will show his best and unless he moves, he will end up being another Gazza wannabee who never fulfilled his potential.

    For Joes’ sake

    BRING BACK JOE!!

  15. Van Der Elst says:

What if Chelsea sign Kaka? Him, plus Ballack, Fatty, Deco, Kanobi, Wright Phillips… Capello has said he wants people who are playing. I could see Joe Cole coming back for a year.

  16. tommo says:

I feel like crying,GOD BLESS THE TRACTOR BOYS!

  17. DevoDevo says:

As a big fan of Joey, I thought his celebration when he scored the winner against us was a disgrace.

I also believe he was voted Player of the year by the Chavski fans last season?

Anton should be shipped out if he’s not interested in trebling his already inflated wages.

No wonder people hate the modern game.

  18. Matthew says:

That news has made my day, even the thought of joey coming back feels me with delight, exactly the type of player we need in our team, if we sign joey then a top 6 finish for sure, imagine it, noble cole and parker in midfield, aston up top with faubert and etherington on the flanks, behrami steaming up the right back!! Please, please please!!!

We are still thinking about Bresciano, I know i’ve said this before Iain but this fella is a good player. Plays anywhere in the middle, not scared to run the ball & is deadly around the edge of the box. Glasgow Rangers have bid 4 mill & because of his association with another Aussie who played for Rangers they will try hard for him. We would have to outbid them. He is worth it.
